Without having some basic knowledge buying a crib can give a headache to any first time parent. There are five important things to remember when you buy one. These are safety, price, it's functions, the color and the size.

Safety involves making sure the crib is not on a recall list and assembling it correctly. Simplicity, Bedtime Originals and Disney are three companies that make a variety of cribs. Simplicity does have a recall list so please check out their website before purchasing any of their cribs. The website is http://www.simplicityforchildren.com/

Simplicity offers nursery in a box. It not only contains a crib but also a changing table and a dresser. They also offer Crib N' Change Combo, Ellis and Aspen. The Crib N' Change Combo is an innovative design.

Bedtime Originals has Butterfly Kisses, Happy Tails, Super Sports, and Champ Snoopy Crib Bedding Sets. The Champ Snoopy 4-Piece Crib Bedding Set also has an innovative design.

Disney's selections are Pooh's Portraits, Star Shine Mickey, My Little Princess and Winnie the Pooh Taste of Honey Bedding Set. My Little Princess 3-Piece Bedding Set is another innovative design.

Wal-mart carries many of these cribs. At Wal-Mart the nursery in a box and the Crib N' Change Combo are around $200.Wal-mart carries all of the Bedtime Original cribs. The Butterfly Kisses is $49.88. Happy Tails and the Super Sports both cost $59.97. Also Champ Snoopy is $58.88. The Star Shine Mickey is $130. Finally Winnie the Pooh Taste of Honey costs $50.

Target carries the Ellis for $250 and the Aspen for $140.

Amazon carries Disney's My Little Princess for $59.90 and Pooh's Portrait at $154.95.

The functions should include a JPMA certification. This means the crib has been tested and has passed. Check the weight the bed can hold. This will be important for when you change it into a toddler bed. Many convertible cribs can last a child many years so the weight factor is important. There should also be a way to adjust the mattress so it can go lower. It saves money if it is a convertible bed. It should be easy to use without waking up the baby. Also there should be a customer service number for the manufacture encase of any problems. And it also should have a warranty. All of the cribs mentioned offer all of these features.

If you buy the crib before giving birth make sure you get a neutral color. This way if your doctor is wrong about the sex of the baby you won't have to run out and get a new crib. If you really want a gender colored crib I suggest buying a bassinet in a neutral color first and then buy the crib after the baby is born. This way you will know for sure what color to get.

The size of the crib will determine where everything else will go. Determine where you want the crib to go and measure the space. This way when you look at the box you will be able to tell if the crib will fit into your room.

Keep a list of what you want in a crib when you go to the store. When you see a crib you like pull out the list and see if it meets all of the requirements. This is the best way to find a bed. Also don't be in a rush to find it if you have just become pregnant. You have 40 weeks to look for the crib of your dreams.

Fire Engine Baby Bedding by brandee.danielle

This holiday season, while millions of people spend hard earned (and lately, hard to come by!) money on holiday gifts, what will you be looking for? Something different that will stand out? Something within your budget? Something thoughtful that will be appreciated by the recipient? Something that will last for years and not fall apart or be stuck in the back of a closet after a few uses? Something you can feel good about buying? Something green and eco-friendly–good for the earth?

Look no further than Natural Organic Bedding. Organic bedding is made from cotton grown without chemicals or pesticides. It contains no “polyester” or other synthetic materials–it is all natural, and generally much more durable than traditional cotton/poly blends.

Why buy organic bedding? The benefits abound.

Organic bedding is great for people with sensitive skin. These people may react when exposed to chemically treated cotton sheets with symptoms such as itching, trouble breathing, irritated skin, and sleep difficulties due to these problems. Take away the allergens and you take away the symptoms.

There's something within your price range. Organic bedding can range from $20-$500+ so there's something to be found by every kind of shopper, from budget buyers to splurging spenders. Additionally, websites have specials around the holiday season and waive shipping fees.

Organic bedding is far from boring. It comes in many vibrant colors, patterns, styles and sizes, just like a traditional bed set would. They have baby and children's sets, sets that are great for when your college bound teen goes back to school after the break, something sophisticated for grandma and something fun for you too!

It's good for you, it's good for the earth. With around 1/3 of our lives spent in bed, don't you and your loved ones deserve to sleep on the healthiest, most comfortable option available? When you buy organic products, you support farmers who help keep our soil and our water free from excess pollutants.

For all of those reasons, buying and giving organic bedding is something you can feel good about purchasing and giving. It's something the recipient will appreciate and use over and over.

Where Can I Buy Organic Bedding?
Some of the more popular companies include:
Gaim
West Elm
Kushtush Organics
EcoChoices

Organic bedding can also be found at some local department and specialty stores, such as Target and Pottery Barn.

Cloudy Bed Baby by babythekitten

There's a new pillow from Creative Bedding Technologies, Inc. that far surpasses any others of its kind. The Unipillow (part of the Fossfill collection) is better than any other average body pillow you will find in stores and its uses are virtually unlimited. The pillow itself has three pieces that are detached from each other and fit together to form one large U-shaped pillow. Each piece is stuffed with Fossfill2- a natural synthetic fiber more comfortable than you can imagine. You can stretch out and relax, and the Unipillow is large enough to cradle your entire body in comfort.

Creative Bedding Technologies, Inc. has been making pillows for 15 years, and their latest material, Fossfill2, is different than most fillers you will find in pillows and body pillows because it has a down-like consistency that keeps its fluffiness and comfort for the long haul. Even with constant use that can flatten out certain portions of a body pillow, a little shake of the pillow will puff it right back up. It also withstands numerous washings in the washing machine and being dried in the drier; looking just as new as the day you bought it. Fossfill2 is also completely hypoallergenic. Creative Bedding is so confident in their Fossfill2 and their pillows that the Unipillow is guaranteed for life to not lose it's loft or resiliency, and it is also guaranteed against manufacturer defects for the first year.

The 3-piece design is unique and allows for a wider range of use. You can shape and mold the pillows how you wish, arranging them in whatever shape you find most comfortable (Though they are shaped to fit together in a U-shape). It's also nice to take one or two pieces with you to another room without having to drag an entire pillow along. You can take one section on a trip or a long car ride and bring it back home and piece it back together for your everyday use. Each piece has a washable removable cover that come in a variety of colors including white, denim, red, tan and green. The covers really hold up in the wash well, as do the pillows themselves.

The uses for the Unipillow vary and really span as far as your imagination can. Obviously you can traditionally use the pillow in your bed at night for back problems, head and neck comfort, restless sleeping, or just basic additional comfort. The pillows also work really well for pregnancy discomforts of all kinds. Everyone in your family can use the Unipillow, and you can take the pillow from your bed to the living room to lounge on the floor with, you can move the pieces around to accommodate two people at once, and you can use it while lounging on the couch. Most body pillows only consist of one piece that can only support one side of your body at a time. The unipillow provides ultimate comfort and support all at once.

Creative Bedding Technologies, Inc. has yet again come up with a product that far surpasses other products of it's generation. The Unipillow isn't like any other body pillow you will find on the market these days and the price you pay for the product is worth it. Not only will you be amazed at the amount of comfort it provides you, but you'll also be shocked at how well it holds up and how well it withstands your washer and drier.
